Big Spring Area Dawgs
P.O. Box 294
Plainfield, PA 17081
We are hoping to get a 10u baseball
team this season! We didn't have a 10u division last season, but
hope to have enough boys age 8-10 register & wear some Dawgs
jerseys this summer. If you are interested or know someone that
may be interested in playing on the 10 & under team, pass
the word and hopefully they'll come out for some good baseball.
We also will be looking for a coach or two to get these boys winning
some ball games.
We already have 3 baseball Divisions established -- 12u coached
by Mike Piper, 14u coached by Carl Helman and 16u coached by Bret
Black. The Softball will in the 14u division and the coach is
Again, if you are interested in coaching the 10u boys, or know
someone that is, please contact us. There's been lots of work
establishing the organization over the years and we would like
to see the Dawgs organization exist for many years to come!
About the Dawgs Organization
Welcome to the Big Spring Area Dawgs (Dawgs) suburban
baseball and softball league from Newville, PA. Players from the
Big Spring Area started the journey into the Suburban League baseball
in 2009 with only 2 teams; a 12U and a 14U division baseball team.
It was an exciting but educating 1st year for the Dawgs.
2010 brought many changes such
as; more teams, more fields and better competition. In 2010 we
had 3 baseball teams; our 10U team was coached by Carl Helman
and Tracy Black, our 12U team was coached by Brett Black and Mike
Piper and the 14U team was coached by John Shannon, Mark Pifer,
Scott Schoyer and Kyle Kotzmoyer. Also, for 2010 we had 2 girls
softball teams that joined our suburban league as Lady Dawgs.
The 12U softball was coached by Mike Gutshall and the 14U team
was coached by Jim Ruff.
Last season in 2011, we began with 3 Dawgs baseball teams and
1 Lady Dawgs team. Mike Piper coached the 10U level baseball team
(Mustangs). Carl Helman and Tracy Black coached the 12U level
baseball team (Broncos). Bret Black and Keith Coyle coached the
14U level baseball team (another horse,... Ponies). And, Mike
Gutshall coached the Lady Dawgs 12U softball team.
During the 2012 season, we had one Pony 14U team coached by Keith
Coyle and Bret Black. We had two Bronco 12U level teams. One team
was coached by Carl Helman and Kris Henneman and the second 12U
team will be coached by Mike Piper. And, one Lady Dawgs 12U softball
team was coached by Mike Gutshall.
The Dawgs are currently using the
Oakville Parks and Recreation field in Oakville for the 10U baseball
team field, the Oak Flat Elementary school baseball field as the
12U baseball team field and the Big Spring High School JV field
is the 14U baseball team field. The Lady Dawgs 12U softball team
is using the Oakville Parks and Recreation field as the team field.
Competition has been fierce, but we have enjoyed every minute
and every opportunity to play some great baseball and softball.
We are pleased with the opposing teams, players and organization
as a whole. We are thankful to the many supporters; Oakville Parks
and Recreation, the Big Spring School District, the dedicated
parents, fans and our sponsors. Please browse our website and
check out our photo galleries as the season progresses, stop by
to watch a game and support the Dawgs & Lady Dawgs!! LET'S
